is nationally and internationally acclaimed as one of the finest educational and research institutions for Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated (Experiential) Design.

The Institute offers Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) in its Heritage Campus, Ahmedabad and Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (PGDPD) in its three campuses.


Admissions 2009-10

GDPD: Graduate Diploma Programme in Design: 90 Seats (Including OBC & other reserved categories)

NEED: National Entrance Examination for Design Studies

Candidates who have passed or who will appear in 2008 for qualifying examinations under Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalents like AISSCE/IB/ICSE, etc are eligible for NEED. Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) as on Jun 01, 2009.

4-year GDPD programme (includes a Foundation year)
is offered in the following disciplines:

● Product Design
● Furniture & Interior Design
● Ceramic & Glass Design (Under the Faculty of Industrial Design)
● Graphic Design
● Animation Film Design
● Film & Video Communication
● Exhibition (Spatial) Design (Under the Faculty of Communication Design)
● Textile Design (Under the Faculty of Textile, Apparel and Lifestyle Design)

Test for PGDPD: Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in Design: 220 Seats (Including OBC & other reserved categories)

Candidates having a Bachelors degree or equivalent (Including those who will be appearing for the qualifying examinations during the academic year 2008-09) are eligible for the separate test for PGDPD. (Please refer to the eligibility criteria given for the specific disciplines on website/admission brochure) Upper age limit for candidates is 27 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) as on June 01, 2009. Those applying for more than one programme should send in separate application forms. One cannot apply for more than two PG programmes.

Issuing of forms start from: October 6, 2008
Last date for receiving completed forms by NID: November 28, 2008
Test for PGDPD (at all centres): January 3, 2009
NEED for GDPD (at all centres): January 4, 2009

NEED and test for PGDPD for eligible candidates for GDPD and PGDPD, respectively, will be held at:
Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Oman.

Request forms! Forms can be obtained from Academic Office, NID, Ahmedabad directly by sending a Demand Draft drawn on any Nationalised Bank in favour of ‘National Institute of Design’ payable at Ahmedabad for Rs 1500/- (Rs 750/- for reserved categories – SC/ST/PH/OBC – who should also send in a copy of the relevant document from competent authority) and a self-addressed envelope of 8” x 12” size with Rs 25/- stamps affixed. Mark your envelope NEED/PG Test NID ‘Admissions 2009’.

Forms can also be obtained from select branches of Bank of India (listed below) on payment of Rs 1500/- towards the cost of the form plus Rs 30/- as bank charges. (Forms of concessional rates to reserved categories are available directly from NID, Ahmedabad.)

Free Training Programme for Faculties

Prepare Future

Realizing the need for skilled manpower in advanced areas of IT, the Department of Information Technology (DIT) has initiated a new programme on “Manpower Development for the IT Industry”. The primary objective of this programme is to update/enhance the skills of engineering faculties in advanced domains of Information Technology keeping pace with the IT industry. Based on the strengths, DIT has given the responsibility to C-DAC, Hyderabad for conducting Faculty Updation Programme to Engineering Faculties. The programme is designed for faculties to keep abreast with rapidly growing trends in Embedded Software, System Software and Application Software. Such programs can stimulate the faculties and help in shaping the engineering graduates to meet the industry expectations.

Our academic partner is JNT University in this initiative.

University School of Education, GGSIP University, invites applications for a newly launched M.Ed. (Regular) programme. The programme duration will be one academic year.

Eligibility:
A graduate/postgraduate in any discipline from a recognized University along with qualifying B.Ed. examination with 60% both in theory and practical separately.
