SCHOLARSHIPS 2009-2010

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the J. N. TATA ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIPS for the academic year 2009 -2010 for higher studies abroad in all disciplines and subjects. Selected scholars may also qualify for gift awards .

Eligibility

Applicants who are:
I) Indian nationals; and
II) (a) graduates of a recognised Indian university with a consistently good academic record; or
(b) students in the final year of the degree course; or
(c) mid-career professionals planning to go abroad for further research, specialization or training At the time of submitting the completed applications, candidates need not have the admission / offer letters from the universities to which they have applied for the academic year 2009-2010.

HOW TO APPLY ?

Prescribed application forms will be available from the Administrative Office of the Endowment at:

Mulla House, 51 M.G. Road, Fort, Mumbai 400 001 from December 8, 2008 to February 16, 2009.

The application fee of Rs.100/- can be paid in cash or by a Money Order on which the full name and address is to be mentioned to enable the Endowment to send the form.

Completed application forms should reach the office of the Endowment not later than February 27, 2009.

THE SELECTION PROCESS

After the initial screening of applications, candidates will be shortlisted for an interview in person by subject experts. The final selection will be made on the basis of the interview which will be held in Mumbai between March and June 2009.

Scholarship for Indonesian Students to Study in India

Scholarship for Indonesian Students tp Study in India 2009 – 2010

The Government of India is pleased to announce scholarships to Indonesian students/researchers for pursuing higher studies at the Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate and Doctoral levels in India. The scholarships are being offered through the General Cultural Scholarship Scheme (GCSS) administered by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi for the academic year 2009-2010.

Courses in the fields of arts, architecture, literature, commerce and science; degree courses in engineering, pharmacy and agriculture; and doctoral and post-doctoral courses in various disciplines can be pursued. A list of Universities and Institutions students can choose from the application form.

Government of India will provide living allowance, contingent grant, accommodation charges, tuition fee and other benefits, including medical and study tour to the students selected for scholarships.

The students seeking admission to M. Phil, Ph.D and higher studies will require Research Visas. The research students must submit their applications in Annexure II in six sets along with a synopsis of their subject. Chandidates applying for pursuing courses in Performing Arts are, in addition, required to submit an audio/video recording of their performances along with their applications and documents. Applicants for all other courses must submit six copies of their applications with copies of supporting documents.

The courses will be in the English language. To further assess their English language skills, the Embassy will conduct an English language test on Friday, 6th February, 2009 for those who have been short listed from among all applicants after initial scrutiny of their documents.

The application forms (also available at Kantor Biro Kepegawaian or Kantor Wakil Rektor Bidang Komunikasi dan Kesekretariatan ITB Jl. Project Oriented Chemical Education (POCE)
Project Oriented Biological Education (POBE)

These programmes, conducted in summer for 6-8 weeks (mid May to July), are aimed at infusing creativity and scientific temper into undergraduates, and involve lectures, laboratory projects and research work. Selected students are expected to work at the Centre for three consecutive summers, and will receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 5000 per month during their period of stay at the Centre. Upon successful completion of the programme, the students will receive a diploma in Chemistry or Biology from the Centre. Those who complete the POCE/POBE programme with outstanding performance will be eligible for admission to the MS/PhD programme in the Centre subject to satisfactory performance in the interview.

Eligibility:
POCE: Students presently studying in 1st year B.Sc (preferably with PCM combination)
POBE: Students presently studying in 1st year B.Sc (any science discipline)
