Department of Elementary Education, NCERT announces admission to
Diploma course in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) 2010-11
Admission notice: Early childhood care and education (ECCE) is an integral part of school education. Before entering the formal school, every child needs to develop necessary readiness to schooling. This readiness depends on child’s early childhood care and education, which includes health care, nutritional support and psychosocial stimulation. Keeping in view the increasing demand for a high quality teacher training in ECCE, NCERT offers Diploma in ECCE that will enable teacher educators to organize state level ECCE training programmes, provide skills in developing resource material for ECCE functionaries, as well as learning and play material for children
Applications are invited by the NCERT in the prescribed format from in-service teacher educators working in SCERTs/DIETs/ state project offices for SSA in States and UTs/ Nursery Teacher Training Institutions/ICDS/NGOs for Diploma in ECCE
Number of seats: 35 (5 seats reserved for private sector including NGOs working especially for socially disadvantaged sections of society and for children with special needs)
Eligibility: Post Graduate
Persons deputed by state/UT govts for establishing ECCE resource centre in states/UTs and below 50 years age will be given preference
Duration of the course: Six months in three phases from 8th November, 2010 to 13th May, 2011
First phase (13 weeks) contact programme at NCERT (From 8th November, 2010 to 4th February, 2011)
Second phase (10 weeks) working in their respective places of work (7th February, 2011 to 15th April, 2011)
Third phase (2 weeks) interactive sessions at NCERT (From 2nd May to 13th May, 2011)
Medium of instruction: English/Hindi
Course fee, boarding and lodging: No fee will be charged from personnel deputed by state/UT govts and they will be paid TA/DA as per NCERT norms. Fee for private candidates is Rs 10,000/- and they will also be required to pay charges for boarding and lodging and bear travel cost. Hostel facilities are available in PG Hostel, NIE campus, NCERT. The lodging and boarding charges would be Rs 125/- per day
Application complete in all respects should be sent to Head, Department of Elementary Education, NCERT campus, Sri Aurobindo Marg, New Delhi-110016 through registered post within 20 days from the date of the advertisement. Those in govt service should send their application through proper channel. Attested copies of marks sheets/degree/certificates in support of qualifications and experience mentioned in the application should be enclosed.
